It's important to note that no air taxi service is currently operating commercially at Heathrow or anywhere else in the UK. Companies developing this technology are working through extensive certification processes with aviation regulators, including the UK Civil Aviation Authority and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency. These rigorous processes exist to ensure the aircraft meet strict safety standards before they can carry paying passengers.
Beyond aircraft certification, substantial infrastructure work is also required. Dedicated take-off and landing hubs, known as vertiports, need to be built and integrated with existing transport networks, complete with charging facilities. Several such sites have been proposed across London and other UK cities, though planning and construction remain ongoing in most cases.
Test flights and demonstration events have taken place both in the UK and internationally, but these should not be mistaken for a confirmed passenger service. Launch dates, ticket pricing and exact route details have not yet been finalised by any operator.
