British Airways Confirms Year-Round Daily Flights Between Heathrow and Baltimore for Winter 2026

Crystal Travel | Travel News | 23 July 2026

British Airways is extending daily Heathrow–Baltimore flights through winter 2026, creating year-round connectivity and supporting Maryland’s new UK tourism campaign.

Daily Flights to Run Throughout Winter

From October 2026, British Airways will operate one flight every day between London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). The winter schedule will complement the existing daily summer service, meaning travellers will no longer face a seasonal gap in direct connectivity between Britain and Maryland. The move forms part of British Airways' broader winter 2026 expansion, with the airline planning to increase its overall long-haul flying from London by nine per cent compared with winter 2025.

Journey Times and Fares

Direct flights between Heathrow and Baltimore take approximately seven hours and ten minutes. Passengers arriving at Heathrow can also connect onward to British Airways services across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Return fares on the expanded route will vary depending on travel dates, cabin class and availability.

Greater Flexibility for UK Travellers

The year-round schedule gives passengers more flexibility when planning holidays, family visits and business trips to the United States. With daily flights maintained throughout winter, travellers can now reach Maryland without changing planes or routing through another US airport, regardless of the time of year.

Maryland Tourism Boards Launch Joint Campaign

The expanded flight schedule coincides with a coordinated international marketing campaign involving the Maryland Office of Tourism, Visit Baltimore, Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County and Visit Frederick. The organisations are combining resources and destination content to raise Maryland's profile among UK travellers, positioning the state as a complete holiday destination rather than simply a stopover point for trips to Washington D.C.

Cassandra Vanhooser, Managing Director of the Maryland Office of Tourism, said increased flight frequency and competitive fares were encouraging more visitors to choose Baltimore/Washington International Airport as their primary gateway to the region.

A Stronger Transatlantic Connection

The decision to maintain daily flights year-round marks a significant development for tourism and business ties between Britain and Maryland. For UK travellers, it provides a straightforward alternative gateway to America's East Coast, while for Maryland's tourism industry, the added winter capacity opens up new opportunities to attract international visitors beyond the state's best-known cities.

With daily flights now running throughout the year and a fresh joint tourism campaign underway, those looking to explore Maryland's historic towns, waterfront communities and culinary trails are encouraged to speak with Crystal Travel's travel agents, who can help find the best fares and plan a tailored itinerary for the trip.
