Families returning through Bristol Airport may notice a welcome change too. Since 8 July 2026, accompanied children aged eight and over can use UK eGates if they are at least 120cm tall and hold an eligible biometric passport, provided they travel with an adult. The government estimates this brings around 1.5 million more children into eligibility over the coming year, though passengers should still remove sunglasses, hats and headphones, and put phones away, before approaching the gate.
