Qatar Airways Extends Double-Daily Airbus A380 Flights to London Heathrow Into Winter

Doha carrier revises winter 2026 schedule, retaining two daily superjumbo rotations to the UK capital until mid-January 2027.

Qatar Airways has revised its winter 2026 schedule between Hamad International Airport in Doha and London Heathrow Airport, opting to retain double-daily Airbus A380 services rather than reducing to a single daily flight as originally planned. The change gives passengers significantly more capacity and choice on one of the airline's key long-haul routes.

Qatar Airways had previously intended to scale back its A380 operation on the route from two daily services to just one from 25 October 2026, marking the start of the aviation industry's winter timetable. Updated schedule data now shows the oneworld carrier will instead maintain two daily A380 rotations until around the middle of January 2027, a considerable increase in capacity compared with the airline's original plans.

After mid-January, Qatar Airways is expected to scale one of its two daily A380 rotations back to three flights per week, bringing the total to 10 weekly A380 services on the Doha-Heathrow route for the remainder of winter. While lower than the double-daily schedule, this remains higher than the single daily service originally planned.

Under the current timetable, one daily A380 service is scheduled to depart Doha at around 2:00 am, arriving at Heathrow at approximately 6:25 am, before returning to Doha at around 8:35 am. A second rotation is expected to depart Doha at approximately 7:50 am, landing at Heathrow around 12:15 pm, with the return flight operating during the afternoon. Flight times are local and remain subject to operational change.​​​​​​​

Qatar Airways reintroduced the Airbus A380 on the Doha-Heathrow route on 16 June 2026, initially operating one daily service before increasing to twice daily from 1 July. Extending this double-daily schedule into winter will provide additional seats during peak travel periods, including the Christmas and New Year holidays, and may also benefit passengers connecting through Doha to destinations across Asia, Africa, Australia and the Middle East.​​​​​​​

London Heathrow remains one of the world's leading airports for Airbus A380 operations, with six airlines, British Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qantas, Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines, expected to operate scheduled A380 services from the airport during winter 2026-27. Together, these carriers are set to operate an average of around 20 daily A380 departures from Heathrow, and Qatar Airways' extended schedule further reinforces this position.​​​​​​​
