Eldoret sits in Kenya's western highlands at about 2,100 metres elevation. It's the training base for many of the world's top distance runners and gateway to the North Rift region. The city has a population of around 500,000.
From the UK, fly to Nairobi first. Kenya Airways operates direct flights from Heathrow (around 8.5 hours). British Airways also flies direct. Emirates via Dubai and Qatar Airways via Doha offer one-stop alternatives taking 12-14 hours.
Return fares to Nairobi range from £450-600 depending on season. Domestic connections from Nairobi to Eldoret add roughly £80-200 each way depending on the carrier and timing.
Eldoret International Airport (EDL) is about 15 km south of the city centre. Jambojet operates multiple daily flights from Nairobi (about 50 minutes). The airport has a small terminal with basic facilities.

The open-air markets sell fresh highland produce, traditional crafts, and Kalenjin cultural items.
Cherangani Hills
A mountain range north of Eldoret with hiking trails through moorland and forest above 3,000 metres.
Nandi Hills
Rolling tea plantations and forests about 40 km south. Home to the Nandi people and their famous bear legend.
Kerio Valley
A rift valley viewpoint near Iten with dramatic escarpment views dropping 1,000 metres to the valley floor.
