Two additional return services confirmed for 18 and 22 April 2026 on the only direct route between London Heathrow and Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia Airlines has confirmed two extra return flights between London Heathrow and Kuala Lumpur International Airport this April, giving UK passengers additional options on one of the most in-demand long-haul routes in aviation. The ad-hoc services, scheduled for 18 and 22 April 2026, have been introduced to accommodate travellers displaced by ongoing disruptions at Middle Eastern carriers, disruptions that have left thousands of passengers seeking alternative direct routing to Southeast Asia.
For British travellers planning a trip to Malaysia or looking to connect onward across Asia and the Pacific, the timing could hardly be better.
Both extra services will be operated aboard Malaysia Airlines' flagship Airbus A350-900 aircraft, departing from London Heathrow Terminal 4 — home to the airline's own dedicated Golden Lounge for Business and First Class passengers.
The additional flights are scheduled on 18 and 22 April 2026, with departure times from both London and Kuala Lumpur designed to offer passengers flexible travel windows across both dates. Flight time from London Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur is approximately 13 hours 15 minutes, making it one of the more comfortable ultra-long-haul journeys available from the UK to Southeast Asia.
Malaysia Airlines holds a unique position on this route — it is currently the only carrier operating a non-stop service between London and Kuala Lumpur. The route is well known for running at near-full capacity throughout the year, with passengers frequently waiting for preferred travel dates. These two additional April departures therefore represent a genuine and rare opportunity for UK travellers who have been unable to secure seats on the standard schedule.
The extra flights come on the back of sustained disruption across Gulf airspace, which has forced many airlines to cancel or significantly reroute services, pushing passengers towards carriers with direct, unaffected routing — of which Malaysia Airlines is one.
Every passenger on these services will fly aboard the Airbus A350-900, one of the most technologically advanced long-haul aircraft in the skies today. Malaysia Airlines configures the aircraft across three cabins: a four-seat First Class suite, 35 Business Class seats with fully flat beds and direct aisle access, and a comfortable Economy Class cabin, with approximately 286 passengers per flight in total. The A350-900's carbon fibre fuselage delivers lower cabin noise and higher humidity levels than older aircraft types, making the nearly 14-hour journey between the UK and Southeast Asia considerably more comfortable.
You heard it right, the magnificent Red Fort which defines the almightiness of Delhi, used to be white initially. According to a survey conducted for archaeology, related research unravelled that the Fort was made up of limestone and when the stone started to wither away, the British painted it Red to preserve it.
Given the consistently high demand on the London Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur route, these additional April flights are expected to sell quickly. UK travellers are advised to check availability and book as early as possible through Malaysia Airlines or an authorised UK travel agent.
Flight schedules and availability are subject to change. Passengers are advised to confirm all travel details with Malaysia Airlines or their preferred travel agent before booking.
