Delta Air Lines to Fly Edinburgh to New York Year-Round

Scottish travellers are set to benefit from improved transatlantic connectivity as Delta Air Lines extends its Edinburgh to New York service to run throughout the entire year, ensuring direct access to one of the world's most exciting cities, no matter the season.

Until now, Delta operated its direct Edinburgh to New York John F. Kennedy (JFK) route on a seasonal basis, running daily flights between March and October, and four flights per week through November and December. January and February were the only months with no direct service, leaving a gap that many travellers found inconvenient.

That gap is now closing. Delta has confirmed it will add three flights per week in January and February, completing a full 12-month schedule on the route. The service continues to be operated by Delta's wide-body Boeing 767 aircraft, with a non-stop flight time of approximately seven hours and 45 minutes.​​​​​​​

Edinburgh Airport has long been Scotland's primary gateway to North America, and this latest development only strengthens that position. Delta already operates seasonal summer routes from Edinburgh to both Atlanta and Boston, cementing its status as the airline's key base in Scotland. Edinburgh Airport's Chief Commercial Officer, Stephanie Wear, welcomed the announcement, saying it was "fantastic news for passengers" and highlighted the importance of continued connectivity to New York and onward destinations across North America through Delta's extensive hub network. Delta is not the only airline boosting transatlantic options from Edinburgh. American Airlines has also launched a summer service between Edinburgh and New York JFK, operating on the brand-new Airbus A321XLR — one of the most advanced narrow-body aircraft currently in service. This means Edinburgh passengers now have two airlines offering direct connections to New York during the summer months, adding healthy competition and greater choice.
