British Airways Extends Dubai Travel Flexibility Until 31 October 2026

Airline widens refund and rebooking options as regional uncertainty continues to affect Middle East flight schedules.​​​​​​​

British Airways has extended its flexible booking policy for passengers travelling to or from Dubai, allowing those with journeys scheduled up to and including 31 October 2026 to request a full refund or amend their travel plans without penalty. The move offers further reassurance to UK travellers navigating ongoing disruption across the Middle East.

Under the update, eligible passengers can request a full refund even if their flight is still scheduled to operate. The policy applies to tickets issued on or before 1 April 2026, for travel taking place between 28 February and 31 October 2026.

This goes beyond the airline's standard cancellation terms, though it does not apply automatically to every Dubai booking. Passengers should check their ticket issue date, original travel dates and fare conditions carefully before cancelling or amending a journey.​​​​​​​

British Airways' direct Heathrow-Dubai service is currently scheduled to resume on 25 October 2026. The route had originally been due to restart on 1 July but the airline extended its suspension amid continued disruption affecting Middle Eastern airspace.

With the restart date falling close to the end of the flexibility window, some passengers booked for late October may still find their flight going ahead as planned. The extended policy gives them the option to reconsider their travel even without a cancellation from the airline. British Airways says it continues to monitor the regional situation and will contact affected customers directly as further updates emerge.​​​​​​​

For journeys from 2 June 2026 onwards, eligible passengers can also amend their booking without paying the usual change fee. This allows a move to a later date on the same route or a switch to an alternative British Airways route.

While the change fee itself is waived, travellers may still need to pay a fare difference if the new flight costs more than the original booking. Availability will depend on the route, cabin class, and date selected, so it's worth comparing the cost of rebooking against simply requesting a refund.​​​​​​​
