Flights from the UK to Takoradi connect through Accra's Kotoka International Airport (ACC). British Airways flies direct from Heathrow to Accra in about 6 hours 30 minutes. KLM via Amsterdam and Brussels Airlines via Brussels are also popular options.
No direct international flights serve Takoradi. Africa World Airlines operates domestic services from Accra. From the UK, fly to Accra with British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, KLM, or Brussels Airlines, then connect domestically. The road from Accra to Takoradi takes about 4 hours.
Return fares range from £420-570 in low season to £720-950+ during peak travel periods. December-January is peak season due to the Ghanaian diaspora returning for Christmas and the Afahye festivals. March-May and September-November typically offer the best deals.
Takoradi is Ghana's Western Region capital, a port city and the gateway to the country's best beaches along the Cape Coast. Takoradi Airport (TKD) is located about 10 km from the city centre.
