Parakou doesn't have scheduled commercial flights, so getting there from the UK takes some planning. You'll need to fly into a nearby city first and then travel overland. Total journey time is 16-24+ hours (including overland).
Fly into Cotonou (COO) using Air France via Paris, Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, or Brussels Airlines via Brussels. From Cotonou, the overland trip to Parakou covers about 400 km and takes 6-7 hours by road. Some travellers take a night bus.
Budget £500-650 for the air fare alone in low season, rising to £780-950+ during peak times. Add overland transport costs on top. Booking the international flight well ahead makes the biggest difference to the total price.
Parakou is the largest city in northern Benin and a major trading hub. There are no scheduled commercial flights to Parakou's airport, so all travel from the UK goes through Cotonou first, then overland. The town is a gateway to the national parks of northern Benin, including Pendjari.
