Nzerekore is Guinea's second-largest city, deep in the forested southeast near the Liberian and Ivorian borders. From the UK, you'll fly into Conakry first, then either catch an infrequent domestic flight or travel overland (roughly 900 km, 15-20 hours by road).
The same international airlines serve Conakry: Royal Air Maroc via Casablanca, Brussels Airlines via Brussels, and Air France via Paris are the main options. Turkish Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines provide alternatives with longer routing.
Return fares to Conakry start from around £650 in low season. From Conakry to Nzerekore, domestic flights (when operating) cost an additional £100-200. Overland transport is cheaper but significantly longer.
Nzerekore sits at the edge of the Guinean rainforest belt, close to Mount Nimba, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is a trading hub for the region and has a large weekly market.
