Moundou is Chad's second-largest city, located in the south-western Logone Occidental region. There are no scheduled flights here. The only practical route from the UK is to fly to N'Djamena and then travel about 500 km south by road, a trip of 8-12 hours.
Turkish Airlines via Istanbul and Air France via Paris offer the main connections to N'Djamena from London. The international flight takes 10-14 hours with one stop. From N'Djamena, hire a private vehicle or take a shared minibus south on the national highway to Moundou.
International return fares to N'Djamena range from £650-900 in low season to £1,200-1,700+ over Christmas. Ground transport to Moundou adds £30-100 each way depending on vehicle type.
Moundou is the headquarters of the Gala Brewery, makers of Chad's most popular beer. The city sits along the Logone River and is surrounded by cotton-growing country. It's one of Chad's more stable southern cities, but check FCDO travel advice before any trip to Chad.
