Singapore Airlines Introduces Upgraded Premium Economy Experience

Crystal Travel | Travel News | 1 April 2026

Singapore Airlines has rolled out a comprehensive upgrade to its Premium Economy Class, introducing over 200 new dishes alongside improved onboard amenities and refined service. The enhancements are being progressively introduced across its long-haul fleet, including Airbus A350, A380, and Boeing 777 aircraft—many of which operate key routes connecting the UK with Asia and beyond.

A Culinary Refresh with Over 200 New Dishes

The standout feature of the upgrade is a significantly expanded dining experience. Singapore Airlines has introduced more than 200 new dishes, developed in collaboration with its International Culinary Panel. The updated menus bring greater diversity, combining Asian favourites with Western and globally inspired cuisine, while placing a stronger emphasis on quality ingredients and presentation.

Passengers travelling in Premium Economy can now enjoy a more elevated meal service, with improved appetisers, main courses, and desserts. On selected routes, the airline’s popular “Book the Cook” service has also been enhanced, allowing travellers to pre-select meals up to 24 hours before departure. This offers greater flexibility and ensures a more personalised dining experience, particularly on long-haul journeys.

Meals are now served with upgraded tableware, and the service flow has been refined to deliver a more premium feel compared to Economy Class.

Enhanced Comfort and Upgraded Amenities

In addition to dining, Singapore Airlines has refreshed its Premium Economy amenities to further improve passenger comfort. Updated amenity kits now include essential travel items such as eyeshades, socks, slippers, and dental kits, with a growing focus on eco-friendly materials.

The seating experience remains a key strength of the cabin. Premium Economy seats offer up to 38 inches of pitch, wider seat dimensions, and features such as adjustable calf and footrests, enhanced recline, and improved lumbar support. These elements are particularly valuable on long-haul and overnight flights.

Passengers also benefit from larger personal entertainment screens—typically around 13.3 inches—along with an extensive library of films, TV programmes, and music. Upgraded noise-reducing headphones, along with improved pillows and thicker blankets, further enhance the onboard experience.

A Better Option for UK Long-Haul Travellers

For UK passengers departing from London Heathrow and Manchester, these upgrades will be experienced on flights to Singapore, with onward connections to destinations across Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. With flight times averaging 12 to 13 hours, Premium Economy offers a noticeable improvement in comfort and overall travel experience.

This cabin has become increasingly popular among UK travellers seeking a balance between affordability and comfort, particularly for leisure trips, family travel, and extended journeys.
