Spain this summer just got a whole lot easier. More seats, more routes, and more ways to get there from across the UK.
British holidaymakers planning a trip to Spain this summer have every reason to feel optimistic. Jet2.com, the UK's largest tour operator and one of the country's most trusted short-haul airlines, has announced a major expansion of its Spain flight programme for summer 2026 — adding hundreds of thousands of extra seats and new routes across some of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe.
The expansion covers the summer season from April through to October 2026, and marks one of the most significant boosts to UK-Spain travel capacity the airline has seen in recent years. For travellers who have previously found flights sold out quickly or prices climbing steeply during school holiday periods, the increased availability is welcome news.
Among the biggest beneficiaries of this expansion are three destinations that have long been firm favourites with British holidaymakers — Mallorca, Tenerife, and Alicante. All three airports are set to see significantly higher seat numbers this summer, with more weekly flights and broader departure options from across the UK.
Mallorca remains Jet2's single largest Spanish destination, drawing visitors to its beaches, resorts, and countryside year after year. Tenerife, which enjoys warm weather throughout the year, continues to attract both summer and winter sun seekers. Alicante, the gateway to the Costa Blanca, is equally popular with families and couples alike — and all three are seeing meaningful capacity growth this season.
The Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol — two of Spain's most iconic holiday coastlines — continue to feature heavily in Jet2's expanded programme. Routes serving these regions, including flights into Alicante and Málaga, are running at increased frequencies this summer, making it easier for British travellers to access the resorts, beaches, and towns that have made these coastlines perennially popular.
Whether it is the whitewashed villages and turquoise waters of the Costa Blanca or the vibrant seaside resorts and year-round sunshine of the Costa del Sol, both regions remain central to the UK-Spain travel market — and Jet2's expansion reflects the sustained demand from British holidaymakers.
One of the most practical aspects of this expansion is the number of UK airports now offering direct flights to Spain through Jet2. Travellers can depart from cities and regions across the country — including Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Bristol, Leeds Bradford, London Gatwick, London Stansted, and London Luton, among others — meaning fewer people need to travel to a single hub before starting their holiday.
Jet2 also opened a brand new base at London Gatwick this year, significantly improving access for travellers in and around the capital and the South East of England.
Beyond the headline resorts, Jet2 has also been growing its network into less mainstream parts of Spain, giving travellers more options to explore beyond the traditional hotspots. Smaller regional airports across mainland Spain and the islands are seeing more flights and greater seat availability — a move that spreads tourism more evenly and opens up corners of Spain that have historically been harder to reach from the UK.
With demand for Spain holidays remaining consistently strong and this level of new capacity now available, travel experts widely advise booking early to secure the best fares and preferred travel dates. Summer weeks that fall during school holidays tend to fill fastest, so getting ahead of the curve is always recommended.
