British Airways Heathrow–Guernsey Flights Boost UK Connectivity with Easy Access to Channel Islands and Global Routes
For the first time since the 1980s, British Airways is flying direct from London Heathrow to Guernsey — and for travellers across the UK, that is a very welcome change.
The UK's flag carrier officially launched the new daily service on 19 April 2026, connecting Heathrow Terminal 5 with Guernsey Airport on a year-round basis. It is the only direct flight operating between Heathrow and the Channel Islands, and it has been one of the most anticipated route launches of the year.
Guernsey has always been a popular destination for British travellers, but getting there from London's busiest airport required a connection or a trip to a different terminal altogether. That changes now. With British Airways operating daily flights from Heathrow, the island is more accessible than ever — particularly for those who want to connect onward to Europe or further afield.
The route was made possible through a formal agreement between British Airways and Guernsey's Committee for Economic Development, with the island's government backing the service to boost both tourism and business travel.
Guernsey is a destination that genuinely surprises first-time visitors. The island blends British and French character in a way that feels entirely its own — cobbled streets, harbour-front seafood restaurants, dramatic cliff walks, and some of the cleanest beaches in the British Isles.
St Peter Port, the capital, is compact and easy to explore, with the 800-year-old Castle Cornet sitting proudly at the water's edge. The food scene draws on the best of both cultures: fresh local crab and lobster, creamy Guernsey dairy, and traditional bakes like gâche, a sweet fruit loaf. Day trips to the neighbouring islands of Herm and Sark, both car-free, are easily done by ferry.
The new service operates daily, year-round, using Airbus A319 and A320neo aircraft. Flight time is around one hour, with the inaugural service completing the journey in just 38 minutes. Departures take place from Heathrow Terminal 5, while Guernsey Airport is located just a 15-minute drive from St Peter Port, the island’s capital.
Passengers can choose between Economy and British Airways’ short-haul business class, Club Europe, on all flights. UK residents do not need a passport to travel to Guernsey, with a valid photo ID, such as a driving licence, accepted for entry.
One of the biggest advantages of this route is what it unlocks beyond the island itself. Passengers flying through Heathrow can connect seamlessly onto more than 20 European destinations — including Rome, Madrid, and Geneva — as well as long-haul routes to New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto, all on a single British Airways ticket. For business travellers especially, this level of global connectivity from a Channel Island destination is a first from Heathrow.
