British Airways is making the India–UK journey smoother, more frequent and more accessible than ever before.
British Airways is gearing up for its biggest-ever summer on the India–UK route, announcing a major expansion of services between London Heathrow and five Indian cities for the 2026 season. With passenger demand continuing to climb, the UK's national flag carrier is adding frequencies, deploying larger aircraft and pushing its weekly flight count to as many as 63 at peak summer — a level that comfortably surpasses anything the airline has previously operated on this corridor.
The expansion is most visible on the two trunk routes. British Airways began operating a third daily flight between London and Delhi from early April 2026, giving travellers a genuine choice of morning, afternoon, and evening departures for the first time. A third daily London–Mumbai rotation follows from mid-May, bringing the same level of frequency to India's financial capital ahead of the school holiday rush. Together, these additions put over 1,000 extra seats per week onto the India–UK sector, benefiting holidaymakers, business travellers, students, and the large Indian diaspora community across the UK.
The headline move of the summer is the launch of a second daily nonstop flight between London Heathrow and Bengaluru, starting 1 June 2026. It is the first time in the airline's history that it has offered more than one daily departure on this route, which British Airways has operated continuously since 2005. Both services will be flown on Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. The decision reflects the extraordinary growth of the London–Bengaluru market, where passenger numbers rose by around 24 per cent year on year in 2025, driven by the city's booming technology sector and growing appetite for leisure travel from South India.
Alongside Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, British Airways continues to operate daily services to Chennai and Hyderabad. At the height of summer 2026, the airline will run nine daily departures from London Heathrow to India in total — a milestone that cements India's position as the carrier's most important long-haul market outside the United States. The airline currently carries close to 1.5 million passengers a year between London and India across its 56 weekly services, and the summer schedule will push that capacity significantly higher.
For anyone planning a trip between the UK and India this summer, the expanded schedule brings real, practical benefits. More daily departures mean greater flexibility when choosing travel times, whether you are booking around work commitments, school holidays, or family plans. The increased capacity also means more availability across cabin classes, giving travellers a better chance of securing their preferred seat at a competitive fare. With Heathrow acting as a well-connected hub, passengers can also take advantage of smooth onward connections to destinations across Europe, North America, and beyond — all under one booking.
Seats on British Airways' expanded India services are filling fast, particularly in premium cabins on the Delhi and Mumbai routes.
