Manzini is Eswatini's largest city and commercial hub, located in the heart of this small southern African kingdom. Flights from the UK connect through Johannesburg, with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic running daily direct services from London to OR Tambo International. From there, Airlink and Eswatini Air fly to King Mswati III International Airport in about 1 hour.
The London to Johannesburg leg takes about 11 hours direct. Add a 2-4 hour connection at OR Tambo and the 1-hour hop to Manzini, and total journey time comes to around 14-17 hours. Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Ababa and Qatar Airways via Doha are alternative routes, though they take longer.
Return fares including the Johannesburg-Manzini connection run about £550-750 in low season, rising to £950-1,300+ over Christmas and New Year. The domestic leg with Airlink adds around £100-200 return. Driving from Johannesburg (about 4 hours) is a cheaper alternative.
Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) is one of Africa's smallest countries. Manzini is the starting point for exploring game reserves like Hlane Royal National Park, the cultural experiences at Mantenga Cultural Village, and the scenic Malolotja Nature Reserve. The country is known for its traditional ceremonies, including the famous Umhlanga Reed Dance.
