With about 14 daily departures from Heathrow to Madrid (BA's own flights plus Iberia codeshares), there's a flight for almost every schedule. First departure is at 06:00, last one at 20:00.
Direct Flights from Two London Airports
Fly from Heathrow Terminal 5 or London City Airport. The City option is especially convenient if you're travelling from east or central London, with check-in to gate times of around 20 minutes.
Modern Aircraft
BA uses Airbus A319, A320, A320neo, and A321 jets on the Heathrow route. From London City, the Embraer 190 is a comfortable regional jet with 2-2 seating and no middle seats.

Multiple daily direct flights to Madrid Barajas, departing from Terminal 5. BA operates its own services alongside Iberia codeshare flights, giving you around 14 daily options between the two carriers.
London City (LCY)
BA CityFlyer operates direct flights from London City Airport using Embraer 190 aircraft. A good pick for business travellers based in Canary Wharf or the City, with a much quicker airport experience.

Cheapest Months to Fly
January, February, and November are usually the cheapest periods for flights to Madrid. The weather can be cooler, but Madrid is a year-round city with indoor attractions, museums, and restaurants.
Peak Travel Periods to Avoid
Easter, the summer months (June to August), Christmas, and New Year push prices up. Also watch out for major events and football matches, which can cause fare spikes.
When to Book for the Best Prices
Booking 6 to 10 weeks ahead of travel is a good rule of thumb for the Madrid route. Given the high frequency, seats are generally available, but fares climb in the final 2 weeks.

BA includes Madrid in most of its sale events. January sales, Black Friday, and seasonal promotions often feature return fares at competitive prices.
