Etihad Airways Launches Seasonal Abu Dhabi–Dhaka Route to Meet Peak Travel Demand

Crystal Travel | Travel News | 9 April 2026

More flights, better connections, Etihad strengthens UK to Dhaka travel for peak season.

Etihad Launches Seasonal Abu Dhabi–Dhaka Route

Etihad Airways has announced the launch of a new seasonal service between Abu Dhabi and Dhaka, strengthening its South Asia network and responding to sustained demand on this key long-haul corridor. The move reflects a targeted expansion strategy as the airline continues to prioritise high-demand routes while maintaining operational flexibility.

Seasonal Service Introduced on a Key Route

The new route will operate between Zayed International Airport and Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Rather than committing to a year-round schedule, Etihad Airways has opted for a seasonal model, allowing the airline to increase capacity during peak travel periods while scaling back during quieter months.

The service to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) is scheduled to begin on 26 June 2026 and will run through 24 October 2026, operating four times weekly using Boeing 777 widebody aircraft.

This approach mirrors a wider trend across the aviation industry, where airlines are aligning flight schedules with demand to improve efficiency. The Abu Dhabi–Dhaka route sees strong seasonal demand, particularly during summer holidays, Eid travel periods, and the year-end peak.

Etihad Expands Abu Dhabi–Dhaka Route to Meet Growing Demand

Boost for UK Travellers

For UK passengers, the new route offers improved one-stop connectivity to Dhaka via Abu Dhabi. Travellers departing from major airports such as London Heathrow, Manchester, and Birmingham will benefit from more convenient travel options and increased seat availability.

This is particularly significant for the UK’s Bangladeshi community, as well as for business travellers and those visiting family. With additional capacity on the route, passengers may find it easier to secure flights during peak periods, when availability is often limited.

Abu Dhabi continues to serve as an efficient global hub, offering smooth transit experiences and relatively short connection times for long-haul journeys.

Flexible Operations and Onboard Experience

Etihad is expected to operate the route using aircraft from its modern fleet, adjusting capacity based on demand. Passengers can expect a full-service experience across all cabin classes, including in-flight entertainment, onboard dining, and comfortable seating options.

Despite being a seasonal route, the airline is maintaining its standard onboard offering, ensuring consistency across its network.

What Travellers Should Know

Passengers planning to use the service should consider the following:

  • The route operates seasonally, so travel dates should be checked carefully
  • Booking early is recommended during peak travel periods
  • Allow sufficient connection time in Abu Dhabi
  • Review visa and entry requirements before travel

A Demand-Led Network Strategy

The launch of the Abu Dhabi–Dhaka seasonal service highlights Etihad Airways’ continued focus on strategic, demand-led growth. As airlines adapt to evolving travel patterns, seasonal routes are becoming an increasingly important tool for balancing capacity and efficiency. For UK travellers, this translates into greater flexibility and improved access to key destinations across South Asia. With demand for Bangladesh travel remaining strong, particularly during peak seasons, the new service is expected to play an important role in supporting connectivity throughout 2026.

As demand continues to grow, this seasonal addition strengthens Etihad’s network, offering greater capacity, improved availability, and more flexible travel options during the busiest periods of 2026.
