Six new routes that are set to change the way passengers fly to Morocco
easyJet has announced a significant expansion to its route network, unveiling six new routes as part of a landmark move that sees the airline open its first-ever permanent base on the African continent. The new base, located at Marrakech Menara Airport in Morocco, marks a historic moment for the low-cost carrier and brings with it a host of new travel opportunities for passengers across Europe, including those flying from the UK.
The announcement has been widely welcomed by travellers and industry observers, coming at a time when demand for affordable flights to North Africa continues to grow steadily.
The newly established base at Marrakech Menara Airport will be home to three permanently stationed aircraft, with the airline projecting millions of seats to be made available in the first year of operation alone. The launch is the result of a long-term partnership between easyJet and the Moroccan National Tourist Office, an agreement that was formalised in autumn 2025.
This milestone also coincides with easyJet celebrating 20 years of flying to Morocco, having first launched services to the country back in 2006. Since then, the airline has carried more than 20 million passengers on Moroccan routes, cementing its position as one of the most important carriers connecting Europe to the country.
Alongside the base opening, easyJet has confirmed six new routes to Morocco for the upcoming winter season. Three of those routes are already available to book, connecting Prague, Newcastle, and Zurich to Marrakech. A further three routes — linking Nantes to Essaouira, Bordeaux to Agadir, and Birmingham to Agadir — are expected to go on sale later this spring ahead of the Winter 2026 season.
For UK passengers in particular, the new Birmingham to Agadir route stands out as an exciting development. It offers a direct, competitively priced connection from the heart of England to one of Morocco's most popular coastal cities, without the need to travel to a London airport first.
The expansion is not only good news for travellers — it also carries significant benefits for Morocco's wider economy. The new base is expected to create around 100 direct jobs at Marrakech Menara Airport, along with thousands of indirect roles across the region's tourism and hospitality sectors.
With these six additions, easyJet's total network across Morocco will grow to 58 routes by Winter 2026, further reinforcing its standing as the second-largest airline operating at Marrakech and the third-largest carrier in Morocco overall. The airline remains the largest low-cost operator flying to Morocco from both the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
Whether you are looking for a long weekend in the cultural heart of Marrakech or a relaxing break along the Agadir coastline, these new routes open up a world of possibilities.
