The establishment of Oman Air goes back to 1970 when the company came into being under the name Oman International Services making its base on the grounds of Muscat International Airport in Seeb.
Apart from scheduled international and domestic services, charter flights and air taxis operate too. Oman Air became the first airline in the world to offer Wi-Fi Internet Services and Mobile Phone services on few routes.
Oman Air was founded in 1993 and became the national airline of Oman. The first flight flew in March with the Boeing 737-300 flew from Muscat to Salalah.

As of October 2013, the airline operates a network of 42 destinations in 23 countries and as of May 2014 the Oman Air fleets consists of Airbus, ATR, Boeing and Embraer.

The Oman Air Business Class is equipped with a 77.5-inch long lie-flat seat with a pitch length of 82-inch and seat width of 22-inch with electrically controlled backrest, leg rest and seat depth. Other facilities that can be enjoyed are the folding side armrest, meal table, entertainment compartment, read light, coat hook, USB port and plugs and a 17-inch Gen III monitor.
