Best Places to Visit in Seoul

Gyeongbokgung: This premier palace of Seoul has risen many times from the ashes. It was built by King Taejo, the founder of the Joseon dynasty and served as the principle palace until 1592. Burnt down during the Japanese invasions, it lay in ruins for nearly 300 years until the father of King Gojong started to rebuild it in the year 1865.

Changdeokgung: The most beautiful of the five palaces of Seoul, Changdeokgung was built as a secondary palace but when Gyeongbokgung was destroyed during the Japanese invasion, it became the primary residence for the royal family until 1872. Enjoy a guided tour of the palace on your visit to the city.

Leeum Samsung Museum of Art: Located on the southern slope of Namsan, Leeum Samsung Museum of Art is the premier art gallery of the city. Beautifully designed, the building is a fine combination of modern and contemporary with the traditional art. Museum 2, the highlight of the gallery, showcases early- and mid-20th-century paintings and sculptures by renowned Korean and international artists.

Deoksugung: Built during the Joseon dynasty, it is one of Seoul's five grand palaces that you can visit in the evening to see it illuminated. The structure is a fascinating blend of traditional Korean and western-style neoclassical architecture.

National Museum of Korea: The imposing structure of this museum fascinates its visitors and takes them to a journey of Korea’s past from prehistory to the Korean empire period. The highlights of the museum are Baekje Incense Burner and Golden Treasures from the Great Tomb of Hwangham.

War Memorial of Korea: This museum documents the history of the Korean War using multimedia and documentaries. Artefacts like weapons, uniforms and maps are also displayed for the visitors.
