Major Charles Mant was the architect who designed this palace. The interior consists of multi-colored marble and mosaic tile. Makarpura Palace: Once the royal summer palace, it has been turned into a training school by the Indian Air Force. The structure of the palace is modeled after Italian Renaissance prototypes. Although, it is not open to public but it’s worth a sight from outside.

Hazira Maqbara: An octagonal structure built in the style of Mughal style of architecture, this mausoleum contains the graves of Qutubuddin Muhammad Khan and his son Naurang Khan. The real grave is inside an underground chamber and quranic verses are written around its walls. The mausoleum is surrounded by a garden and make for a nice visit when in the city.

Tambekar Wada: Once the private mansion of a diwan (chief minister) of Baroda during the last Mughal Empire, Tambekar Wada is a heritage monument under the protection of the Archaeological Survey of India. This wooden structure is notable for its miniature-style painted murals, depicting scenes from the Mahabharata and the Anglo-Maratha war. Only a small part of the mansion is open to the public.
