About Sialkot


A city in the northeast of the Pakistani province of Punjab, Sialkot is about 5000 years old and established by Raja Sul. The city is believed to be the site of ancient city Sagala that was invaded by Alexander the Great in 327 AD. It was later re-established by Raja Salban in 200 AD who built the remarkable Sialkot Fort. It is one of the most industrialised cities in Pakistan and popular for its small industries, including surgical goods, sports goods, leather apparels, musical instruments, health gloves and stainless steel utensils.

Best Time to Visit Sialkot


Sialkot has Dry Winter and Wet Summer climate. The average temperature changes drastically. It feels extremely hot most of the year with little chances of rain. Best Places to Visit in Sialkot


Clock Tower: Also known as Iqbal Square, the Sialkot Clock Tower is situated in Saddar Bazar in Sialkot Cantonment. It has been standing tall for more than a century and witnessed many time upheaval and change in the city. The clock tower has been renovated many a times in the past but the original structure is still intact and not changed much.

Puran Bhagat Well: Another historical site, an ancient well is situated near cantonment area. It is believed that the water of the well contains healing properties and can cure infertility. Women from different parts of the country come here to bathe in its water to cure themselves.

Sialkot Fort: One of the oldest forts in Pakistan, Sialkot Fort is the most important historical monument in the city of Sialkot. The city is quite significant historically because of the Fort. It took two years and 10,000 labourers and masons for the construction of this remarkable fort. Stone slabs and rocks were especially brought from Pathankot to the city for its construction.

Iqbal Manzil: Located in the heart of the city, Iqbal Manzil is the birthplace of Muslim poet and philosopher Dr Muhammad Allama Iqbal. The building was purchased by the great-grandfather of Allama Iqbal in the year 1861 and was small in size initially but each successor added structures and it grew in size. Iqbal Manzil was bought by the government of Pakistan in 1971 and handed over to the archelogy department for restoration and granted the status of a cultural heritage.

Fatima Jinnah Park: Named after the sister of Allama Iqbal, the founder of Pakistan, Fatima Jinnah Park was designed by Michael Japero and inaugurated in 1992. It is mostly covered by lush greenery, with a few structures dotting the landscape. Most of the area in the park comes under a wildlife sanctuary, except few that are close to residential districts.
